Hi. I'm online. Like I have been nearly every day since getting DSL. I've decided to code this old crap d20-style game from Jr Hi. I don't even remember who I hung out with in Jr Hi. I just remember paper footballs, dipping french fries in chocolate shakes, and enough about this game to spec it out. Anyway, it's not done yet. |

It's been about 3 years, and let me tell you, I missed DSL. After a quick hookup to the wireless LAN, we have aDSL in the house. It's nice. It's fast, and after two years, I'm finally screwing around and not getting irritated while waiting for things. Oh, I missed you so... |

Saturday, Ronald Reagan died. To some, this is grounds for celebration. The late Bill Hicks, for instance would likely be "grining from ear to fucking ear." Others would be more bereaved... Last night, after the travesty of the Calgary Flames losing the Stanley Cup to some cracker team from - of all places - Florida... er, let me start over. Last night, after the game, on the news, they mentioned "the gipper" which set off some repressed memory from my childhood. If anyone knows where I can get an MP3 of " The Presidential Rap" or even a mov or avi, that would be swell. Here's a snippet as best that I can remember... I mean, it's been literally 20 years: I'm the big Gipper, don't mess with me. I'm the fastest rapper this side of D.C. With my best girl (sic) Nancy as my spouse. Rappin' to you from this big White House.
Don't worry, I've already googled it. There aren't any hits for "presidential rap" and "gipper" and only one for "presidential rap" and "reagan" well... that is at least until Google reindexes my site. I'm gonna futz up my own searches. |

My favorite speculation turned out to be the most likely, or at least the one that has been adopted as truth since about midday. Ooh, two blog entries in the same day. I'll try not to send you all into shock. |

Around 2:45 this morning a huge low loud booming sound woke us up. At about the same time, the sky became like dawn: the stars were hidden behind a pale blue sky with a huge bright fullish moon, so bright that it hurt to look at. After the sound, all was eerily quiet. The sky remained dawn-like for quite some time, making it difficult to go back to sleep. This morning there have been nothing but speculations as to the cause, from initial speculations of a possible meteor to falling space junk such as a spent rocket or satellite. Almost all the theories are being squished soon after they're conceived and the one thing that seems to be certain is that nobody really knows what happened. My favorite speculation is that a meteoroid entered our atmosphere, becoming a meteor, but was large enough to keep from being burnt up initially, but not so durable as to make it all the way to the surface ( which would have made it become a meteorite). The trip thru the upper atmosphere superheated the rock and a short time into the sky, it exploded, leaving no trace except for the sound and light. This is, ofc, just another speculation. If I do figure out what it was, maybe by the evening news, I'll try to post again. |
