She did it.

My fiancé bought herself a PT Cruiser. It's an Onyx Green, 2004 Limited Edition, and it's really cool, if I do say so myself.

Of course, it's no 1969 pImpala.

Whoever Wins... We Lose

Alien vs. Predator... oh, I've been waiting a long time for this. I can't even remember when it started, but I know my interest was most piqued with Alien vs. Predator: Prey, the graphic novel mini-series from Dark Horse Comics. I have the compilation version which includes the 0th issue...

Around the time Alien3 came out, there was some discussion about AVP:Prey being turned into a movie, but with the poor response to Alien3 (my favorite of the Alien series) apparently was enough to sideline the project, with Alien Resurrection flatly killing it. But why? Prey could have revitalized both seriessses.

Some friends and I had fantasized about Ming -Na Wen playing Machiko Naguchi and William Shatner playing her boss. Now that nearly a decade has passed, I think that Ziyi Zhang should play the main character... but William Shatner should still play her boss. He just seems like he could pull off the boss/cowboy/evil-corporate-companyman character with little problem. Plus, it might take the James Tiberius Kirk out of him to be in a completely different SciFi series.

But, sadly, Prey is not the AVP that the AVP movie will be, but it's own story. The origin of Weyland-Yutani, Yautja (predator's race-name) teenage hunter Blooding rites, predaliens (disturbing cross of yautja & xenomorph), ancient Antarctican pyramids, scientists, human's lust for scientific knowledge and power, and obviously bloodlust and terror seem to be a number of issues that I've read relating to the movie. I'm not sure how many are accurate, if any.

I'm also curious how true Mr. Anderson will stick to the background established in the Dark Horse Alien, Predator, and AVP seriessesses. Will the Predators refer to themselves as Yautja? Will their blood be basic (the pH opposite of acidic - thus neutralizing the xenomorph's acidic blood)? Will the yautja saplings be Blooded when they finish? Will there be two Blooded guard yautja with burners and the master to do the Blooding overseeing the rite of passage? Will the humans refer to aliens as xenomorphs? Will the yautja refer to aliens as kainde amedha (hard meat)? Will the yautja refer to humans as oomans or pyode amedha (soft meat)?

Am I an unbelievably huge dork for knowing all this?

What do you see when you close your eyes?
